Hey Joe! I cannot really answer your question since i did not use Xdebug with Netbeans. However, as far as i understood, there is support (and quite good actually) for it. However, since i did not use it, i cannot guarantee for this. Also, have you looked into Aptana or Zend Studio based on Eclipse? They should also work pretty well (at least with some plugins) with both JS code competition and Xdebug.

Hi Andrew
Thanks for the article! I always want to improve my development environment and I currently use Eclipse PDT with Wamp and Xdebug. The annoying thing I find about it is the lack of javascript completion which makes me very interested in using Netbeans.

Is the support for xdebug any good?

@katta,

the best way to use a PHP IDE is to have a LAMP / WAMP installation separately . Create a new project in netbeans with the sources from the folder /www/ from your xAMP installation and then just edit those, save and open your browser to localhost/your_project/ and you should see your output.

This is the way i use Netbeans anyways since i like to keep things separated for as much as i can.
